Do you live in your thoughts about the past or worries about the future? Do your emotions often cause stress and confusion? Do you get carried away by dramas?

This course is designed to support the ongoing practice of mindfulness, helping you to develop the skills and attention to be fully present in your life, and to touch each moment deeply. It is intended for those new to the practice, as well as for those who want to review the basics and establish a more consistent daily mindfulness and meditation routine. The course includes basic instruction as well as an exploration of practical ways to bring mindfulness into daily activities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Systematically explore mindfulness of breathing
  • Tune into your body and physical sensations through sitting & walking meditation and the full body scan technique
  • Practice mindful meditation to explore your emotions, thoughts, and overall awareness
  • Apply mindfulness to difficult emotions and thoughts to avoid getting caught up in dramas
  • Cultivate daily meditation and mindfulness practices so that mindfulness becomes an integral part of your daily life

If you have any questions, please contact Sheila at sajludwig@gmail.com.

About the Instructors

Brandy Kidd, LCSW, became interested in mindfulness (and subsequently, Buddhism) in her early 20s after encountering suffering both in her personal life and in her professional life as a clinical social worker.

Over the past 30 years, she has done her best to devote herself to the study and practice of Dharma throughout the comings and goings of life's stages — dating, marrying, raising children, building a career in clinical social work and managing a private practice for the past 22 years, and being present to a large extended family as members move through their various life stages. For the past seven or so years, she has co-facilitated the Naples Sangha and takes much joy in doing so.

Sheila Ludwig became seriously interested in mindfulness and meditation around 2014. After a few years of self-study, she sought a more formal path and joyfully discovered the Florida Community of Mindfulness, becoming a student of Fred Eppsteiner in 2016, where the importance of being part of a sangha became clear. Sheila is an ordained member of the Order of Interbeing and has completed FCM’s Presenter Training.

Wanting to be of service, she serves as the Naples Sangha Coordinator. She will also be serving on the OI Council starting in 2026.
