About | Vision, Mission & Core ValuesFCM's vision is to create a community, and eventually a world, where principles of loving-kindness, generosity, and selflessness result in global peace, environmental sustainability, and the cessation of suffering for all sentient beings. In support of this vision, FCM's mission is to offer Buddhist teachings that are relevant to the realities of day-to-day life and lead to personal transformation. FCM provides a variety of educational and practice opportunities to support those who sincerely aspire to cultivate wisdom, mindfulness, equanimity, compassion, and joyful selfless service to others. FCM realizes its mission through the creation and nourishment of a healthy and active sangha community, where teachings and other practice opportunities are shared in an environment of mindfulness and loving-kindness, under the guidance of our teacher, Fred Eppsteiner. FCM's core values are the essential principles that underlie, motivate, shape, and guide our community.
FCM's Board of Directors, Teacher, and Leadership Council, with input from the membership of FCM, develop Strategic Plans to guide our Community's activities, in alignment with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values expressed above. Each year priority points are developed to address the Strategic Plan. Given that the Covid-19 pandemic did not allow for the 2020 priority points to be realized, the Board created new 2021 priority points based on the 2020 experience and an assumption that 2021 would allow for a gradual increase in in-person activities. The 2022 priorities were developed with consideration of the principles outlined above and the acknowledgement of the continuing evolution of Covid-19 impacts. The most recent Strategic Plan and the 2021 and 2022 priority points are linked below. Strategic Plan (2018-2020) and 2020 Priorities |
