In this day-long retreat, Guo Gu will introduce two distinct methods of Chan Buddhism and bring them together as an embodied approach to love and freedom. The retreat includes 30-minute sitting meditation periods punctuated by mindful yoga and walking meditation, and will end with an opportunity for Q&A. This one-day retreat is open to all, and is held in-person at the Florida Community of Mindfulness in Tampa, FL, and will be streamed on Zoom.

Guo Gu (Dr. Jimmy Yu) is the founder of the Tallahassee Chan Center, the founder of the socially engaged intra-denominational Buddhist organization, Dharma Relief, and a professor of Buddhism and East Asian religions at Florida State University. He studied under the late Master Sheng Yen for over 30 years, nine of which as his attendant monk and most senior and closest disciple. He is the author of The Essence of Chan (2012), Passing Through the Gateless Barrier (2016), and Silent Illumination (2021).

Please note that the fee for this one day retreat has been set intentionally low to make access possible for all. Please pay when completing this registration, as there is a hall capacity limit that we need to observe. Any dana that you may offer in addition to the fee will help to support Guo Gu's teaching and Chan community in Tallahassee.

Registration for In-person attendance closes October 15.
