Community Programs

As a true community, we aspire to bring our practice into all areas of our lives, and to support each other in doing so. Our Community Programs have developed organically based on needs of the community. We welcome you to connect with us in a way that meets your needs. Unless otherwise indicated, programs are open to both members and non-members.


  COMMUNITY PROGRAMS 



Family Program (for FCM Members and their Children or Grandchildren)

The Family Program is committed to fostering mindfulness, understanding and compassion in the lives of our children and their families by providing a safe and mindful environment with activities inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village tradition. The Family Program is generally offered during the school year two Sundays a month during Sunday Meditation for FCM members and their children or grandchildren. Please check the FCM monthly calendar for dates and for information on scheduling a visit.




Spiritual Friends Group (for FCM Members )

Spiritual Friends Groups, sometimes called by the Pali term, Kalyana Mitta (KM) Groups, are small groups of FCM members who commit to meeting together on a regular basis to discuss and share their experiences in the practice. They are a powerful means of strengthening and broadening one's practice. The group setting provides an opportunity for members to practice deep listening and sharing, and to support and nurture each other in efforts to bring the practice into daily life. They are an enjoyable way to form connections and friendships with others with similar interests and perhaps similar challenges. 


Current Spiritual Friends Groups:

  • Spiritual Friends Illness Group is for those members have been practicing with the Florida Community of Mindfulness for awhile, and who are experiencing illness or are caring for loved ones with illness. 
  • Spiritual Friends Mindful Parenting Group is for FCM mom's and dads. The mission of this group is to nurture and support one another's Buddhist practice through the role of being a parent.  





Meditation in Recovery
Every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm 

Open to everyone in recovery: AA, NA, Alanon, and other programs. It is also for those trying to spend less time on the Internet, social media, TV, shopping, etc. Please join us to learn move about the 11th Step (Prayer and Meditation to make it part of your daily life. Meditation is easy to learn and will help you cultivate a rich and rewarding spiritual practice, one that will support you in realizing the promises.





Mindful Teen Program
Sundays from 12:15-1:45 twice a month during the school year.  See FCM calendar for dates.

The FCM Mindful Teen Program supports mindfulness practitioners in their teen years who, inspired by the teachings of Zen master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hahn, aspire to cultivate mindfulness and compassion in their lives. Please check the FCM monthly calendar for dates and times. In the spirit of inter-being and inclusiveness, we honor the diverse spiritual/cultural roots and religious traditions of our teens. No pre-registration is necessary and teens do not need to be FCM members, however registration forms must be signed by parent or guardian the first time teens attend.





Mindful Movements

Bring mindfulness off the cushion and into movement through the practices of Mindful Yoga and Qigong at the Tampa Center. All teachers are certified and seasoned practitioners of mindfulness.




Prison Dharma Program

FCM's Prison Dharma Program (PDP) has been offering Buddhist services and support within the Florida Department of Correction’s chapels since 2013. Our activities include weekly or monthly visits facilitated by senior practitioners, who are usually accompanied by other sangha members that have an interest in prison volunteering. Our program supports inmates’ practice through conducting formal Buddhist services, meditation, and Dharma readings, followed by deep sharing/mindful listening. Our volunteers also provide support by offering days of mindfulness, donating meditation items and through pen pal collaboration. Our aspiration is to address the growing number of inmates turning to the Dharma as a means to end their suffering through healing and self-transformation. Wake Up Tampa Bay
Every other Friday night from 7:00 to 8:30 pm

A mindfulness and meditation group for people in their 20s and 30s. We are a group of peers who support each other in our practices of mindfulness and meditation and in leading wholesome, healthy, happy lives. We take inspiration and guidance from Buddhist teachings and help each other see how we can apply them to our lives. However, this group is open for everyone in our age group, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.

  Naples Book Club
Every other Friday night from 7:00 to 8:30 pm

The Naples Book Club meets once a month on Thursday evenings, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. There is no cost but registration is required. For more information, please inquire at the Naples Sangha on Sunday evenings.
