We are happy that Great Cloud Refuge is complete and now being used by our community, both for those in residence for group or solitary retreats, and as a place to stay for short and longer term periods of training and service. We have reached this milestone only due to the support, hard work and overwhelming generosity of this community and its friends.
The final stage to complete our campus as an oasis of peace and harmony is landscaping. Buddhist temples (centers) have always utilized plants and trees, sculptures and ponds/fountains to create a natural environment to nurture and heal all who walk their grounds. We wish to follow in this tradition - offering the same for our community and other visitors.
Working with a member who is an experienced landscape architect, we have created a detailed landscaping plan for our campus that will create this beautiful environment, such as the garden pond rendering above. We will be using her landscape drawings and implementation plan as guidelines but may not implement all of the suggestions (e.g. certain gates shown in the before/after pictures may be modified).
