Mindful Living Path Fall 2018 Intensive:

Calming & Transforming the Mind Through Mindfulness:

An Intensive on the Practice of Full Awareness of the Breath

October 1 – December 17

This Fall's Mindful Living Path Intensive will return us to a foundational teaching and practice of our tradition.  One of the oldest teachings of the Buddha relates to using the breath to develop mindfulness, concentration and insight in order to calm and stabilize the mind, and to develop equanimity and serenity.  These teachings are presented in the Full Awareness of the Breath Sutra (Anapanasati Sutta).  This sutra offers sixteen specific meditations to facilitate the practitioner’s capacity to realize the fruits of these teachings in their consciousness and in daily life.  Much ground is covered in these exercises, so to keep our practice focused, we will be working exclusively with the first 12 exercises in this Intensive.  Working sequentially with each of these meditations, this Intensive will be an opportunity to develop a calm, stable, and joyful mind, and to consciously bring these practices into our daily interactions and activities in order to transform our lives.

Participants in this Intensive will be provided with a path of practice that will include a mentor, readings, and assigned weekly meditation and daily life practices.  Bi-weekly group mentoring video-conference calls on Zoom will provide individual guidance and support.   Four Dharma talks by senior students, Bryan Hindert and Tammy Klein, will be offered to participants by Zoom.  Small group meetings offered bi-weekly, in-person or by Zoom, will provide an opportunity for participants to share deeply and provide mutual support to each other.  In addition, Fred will offer two Forums in Tampa to answer questions and interact with participants.  These Forums will be Zoomed so that those in other locations can participate.

If you have any questions about this Intensive or whether it is appropriate for you, contact Bryan Hindert at bbhindert@gmail.com or Tammy Klein at tammywklein@gmail.com.
