Dharma Path Summer 2016 Eight-Week Self-Development Intensive

Training the Mind Utilizing the Lojong Mind Trainings

July 11- September 5, 2016

The Summer 2016 Dharma Path Intensive will continue our focus on the text, “The Seven Points of Mind Training,” by the Tibetan master, Chekawa Yeshe Dorje.  It is a much loved and deeply venerated text in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, well known for its pithy trainings that help us apply the full breadth of the Buddha’s Mahayana teachings to daily life. These trainings focus on the Unconditioned Awakened Mind (Bodhicitta) and how this mind can manifest as loving-kindness, compassion and understanding in all the activities of our ordinary life. The transformation of seemingly adverse situations into the path of awakening is a unique focus of these mind trainings.

In this upcoming self-development Intensive, we will continue to study and practice with the text’s fifty-nine trainings. Fred will assign certain key trainings for all participants to study and practice. As well, participants will have the opportunity to select individual trainings upon which they wish to concentrate. Supportive activities for this Intensive will include Dharma Talks by Fred, assigned readings, and small group meetings. The group meetings will be offered weekly, in-person or by phone, to provide an opportunity for participants to share and provide mutual support to each other. These meetings will be on a “drop-in” basis, and attendance will not be a commitment of the Intensive, but rather at the discretion of each Intensive participant. Fred will be attending some of these meetings as his schedule permits.

Please note that this Intensive is open only to FCM members who participated in either the Fall 2015 Dharma Path Lojong Intensive or the Winter/Spring 2016 Dharma Path Lojong Intensive.

Commitments for each Intensive participant:
1)  The commitment to a minimum of one hour of daily formal meditative practice and/or other practices related to this intensive.
2)  The commitment to attend all the practice periods of your sangha during the Intensive.

3)  The commitment to read Dharma texts that will be recommended to participants.

4)  The commitment to be present for the phone Dharma Talks by Fred.

There is a suggested donation of $50 associated with this Intensive. This is a suggested donation, and participants are free to donate more or less, depending on their individual practice of Dana and their financial situation. Please note that participation in this Intensive is only open to members of the FCM sangha. For information about membership, please access our website at www.floridamindfulness.org
