Sanghas

So let us sit down together as a group of brothers and sisters, as a Sangha, to practice looking deeply again in our lives, and how we conduct them.

— Thich Nhat Hanh

A Sangha, or Practice Community, is a group which comes together in support of each others' mindfulness and meditation practice as well as their journey along the Buddhist path. The Florida Community of Mindfulness supports local Sanghas across Florida. Please see the following sections for more information on the sangha nearest you.

Dancing Waters Sangha (Tampa)

Dancing Waters Sangha (DWS) is a group that practices in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh--a Vietnamese Zen monk, teacher and peace activist. Our group formed in 1997 with four of us who attended a TNH retreat in Key West, and we've grown over the years to over 30 people, with anywhere from 6 to 25 at any one meeting. We meet every Thursday evening, 7-9 pm, at the Lotus Room in Tampa.

Naples Sangha

The Naples Sangha is a non-sectarian Buddhist meditation and study group which began nine years ago in the living room of our founder and teacher, Fred Eppsteiner. Fred is a well-known meditation teacher and practitioner in the Zen and Tibetan lineages. The group has gained inspiration from the “engaged Buddhism” tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, a highly respected and beloved meditation master, prolific author, and poet.
