Naples Sangha

The Naples Sangha is a non-sectarian Buddhist meditation and study group which began nine years ago in the living room of our founder and teacher, Fred Eppsteiner. Fred is a well-known meditation teacher and practitioner in the Zen and Tibetan lineages. The group has gained inspiration from the “engaged Buddhism” tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, a highly respected and beloved meditation master, prolific author, and poet.

This tradition breaks down the barriers between daily life and spiritual life, between the sacred and profane. Engaged Buddhism teaches that the practices of mindfulness meditation and the development of wisdom and compassion can permeate and transform all aspects of our daily life and relationships.

Every week, on Sunday evening, we meet for group meditation practice for one hour. Afterwards, we listen to a Dharma talk that explains different Buddhist teachings and meditation practices and their application to daily life. All are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. There are no fees for participation, however donations are accepted. Mats, cushions, and chairs are provided. Wearing loose and comfortable clothing is suggested.

If you are new to meditation, introductory classes for newcomers are also available. We want everyone who is interested in learning about Buddhism or pursuing a meditation practice to feel comfortable in joining us. Please refer to our Schedule page for meeting days and times.

The Naples Community of Mindfulness meets at Bala Vinyasa Yoga which is located at Peacock Court, 6326 Trail Boulevard, Naples, Florida 34108. Peacock Court is across U.S. 41 from Barnes & Noble.
